Changes to the Finnish book-entry system as of May 7, 2018

Finland’s central securities depository, Euroclear Finland Oy, will introduce a new book-entry system over the weekend of May 5-6, 2018. The new system will be in production on Monday, May 7, 2018.

The introduction of the new book-entry system means that the Finnish book-entry account numbers will also change. The central securities depository’s code will be added to the beginning of the book-entry account number, and instead of the current 19 characters, the official book-entry account number will have 35 characters. You can find your own book-entry account number at the Client information section in My Evli.

For example, in the new book-entry system, the following book-entry account number 4510000000001234567 at Evli will become APKE0000000000004510000000001234567.

After the introduction of the new book-entry system all the European Central Bank’s TARGET2 days will be settlement days in Finland.

For example, registration of securities transactions into a Finnish book-entries account and cash transactions into bank accounts at Evli on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 will take place on Ascension Day, May 10, 2018.
