Evli Corporate Finance has acted as financial advisor to Gasum on the acquisition of Swedish Biogas International. Gasum is now the largest producer of biogas in the Nordic countries.
As a result of the transaction, five biogas plants located in Jordberga, Katrineholm, Lidköping and Örebro as well as a majority shareholding in a production plant located in Västerås, Sweden, were acquired. Swedish Biogas International also has a 50% shareholding in Vadsbo Biogas. Swedish Biogas International is one of the largest producers of biogas in Sweden, producing an annual total of around 300 GWh of biogas. The first production plant of Swedish Biogas International was established in 2009. The company’s head office is located in Linköping.
Gasum is Finland’s leading gas player, processer of biodegradable waste and supplier of biogas. Gasum’s natural gas pipeline network is located in Southern Finland. Natural gas covers around 8% of Finland's energy consumption. In Finland, Gasum processes an annual total of 450,000 tonnes of waste and produces an annual total of around 350 GWh of biogas at its seven biogas plants located in Huittinen, Honkajoki, Kuopio, Oulu, Riihimäki, Turku and Vehmaa.
Gasum also produces biogas with its partners in Espoo, Kouvola and Lahti. The Gasum subsidiary Skangas is the leading Nordic expert in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and has LNG production plants in Risavika, Norway, and Porvoo, Finland, and LNG terminals in Øra, Norway, Lysekil, Sweden, and Pori, Finland.
